Establishment politicians and the major media networks have long gone hand in glove and now they are both together in the same sinking ship. Americans, especially young ones, are rapidly losing confidence in both the networks and our political leaders.
The internet has cracked the iron curtain of acceptable opinion and it has the old guard reeling.
For years the show went on as planned so long as voters fit into one of their two pre-approved choices and trusted the nightly news to confirm their decisions. But with the NSA debacle unfolding, the government lies about WMDs, the Benghazi cover-up and a host of other credibility busters the networks are having to go into overdrive to cover for their political counterparts to support a rigged economic system, an unjust judicial system and a runaway police state.
Ironically, the more the establishment scrambles to regain their credibility the more they expose themselves as part of the problem. Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall and all the king's men couldn't put him back together again.
So too the cat is out of the bag for the networks. It's patently displayed for all to see every seven minutes in all the commercials they run. It's a veritable who's who of corporate fat-cats gaming the system to guarantee privatized gains and socialized losses. The too-big-too-fail crowd has become so intermingled with one another through financing and shared portfolios that they have genuinely isolated themselves from the very consumers/citizens they are serving/governing.
The divide between generations in America is clearly showcased in polls regarding media credibility and political support. The baby boomers, long since inebriated on the corporatist Kool-Aid are at odds with the upcoming Millennials and Generation X is still finding itself.
The baby boomers think that because they have taken their licks and paid their dues that it's incumbent on today's youth to follow suit. But they're not, they are breaking the mold and going off script and its giving fits to the guardians of the status quo. How can they perpetuate this modern American cycle without obedience and support from the next generation?
The truth is that this is long overdue, this country has moved away from the Constitution, the philosophy of Liberty and it's evident. New leaders are taking issues head on now, leaving the sinking ship and building a new one. The freedom movement may not be able to make folks join our cause but we certainly don't have to put up with what we've been given either.
